I Gave the Boot the Boot....

I had physical Therapy this morning and a doctors visit this afternoon, and... I can shed the boot if I promise to be good and not over do.

I need to wrap or tape my foot and keep supportive shoes on until I go to bed... but both are a much better option than the boot.

Merry Christmas to me.

I am so tired of this pain in the foot. The doctor... the new doctor says that it will take a good three months to be totally well. So far so good.

Update on the Boot...

Just a quick update on the boot situation. Well I fired my foot doctor and found a great one.

I was informed (by the new doctor) that I would be in the boot for a few more weeks and it will not be totally healed for about three months. I need to make sure that I allow it to heal. She has me on a stronger anti-inflammatory medication and I am going to physical therapy.

It seems that the course of action when I first reported the pain in my foot... the cortisone shots... caused the rupture of the planter facia. Even though I informed the first doctor that I felt remarkably better, he insisted that I get another injection of cortisone (and then another).

It seems you can only have three cortisone shot in a calendar year, but it is imperative that you space them out (no closer then 6 weeks). He (the first doctor) gave me three cortisone shot (yes three) in a two month period. And on my last visit he told me that he wanted to save the last shot for later if needed. When I reminded him that he already gave me three, he said... I did?

I hobbled out as quickly as I could and never looked back. The new doctor said that the frequency of the previous three shots weaken the tissue and that is probably what caused the rupture of the facia. So thanks to the first idiot I have a prolonged time in the boot.

Ba Humbug!!!!

The only good news, if you can fine good news, is that it didn't just rip (because of old age) as I previously thought; it was the treatment. Oh well, gift cards all around.

Justice Served...

You know how crazy people get around Christmas and their driving shows the stress and craziness. but sometimes there is just an idiot or two on the road that just make you stop ans say... Where are the police when you need them?

Yesterday, I witnessed a crazy nut driving one of those big pickup trucks; you know the one... loud and about four feet off the ground. Well he was tailgating and driving from lane to lane and just scaring everyone on the road. As we drove out of Visalia I said to myself: where is a cop when you need one?

To my surprise (and delight) I watched him swerve around yet another car as he took off leaving all of us in his dust. But alas, there in the distance I saw a motorcycle cop pull out from behind a house and pulled him over... I was so very happy.

YEAH, Highway Patrol guy, you did good.

a Different kind of Gift...

Well it is that time of the season where we rack our brains to think of different kind of gifts that we might give to surprise our loved ones. This one tops them all so far this year.

The most personal gift you can give: My DNA Fragrance... and it is not cheap we are talking over a hundred bucks.

Well here is the process you swab the inside of your cheek with a Q-tip send it in to the lab and with in a week they analyze your DNA and credit a fragrance just for you based on your DNA.

This sound intriguing and to tell you the truth I wonder what the fragrance would be like for me (based on my DNA), but also scary, very scary sending off your DNA to who knows who, to do who knows what with it. hummmm
