New Office...

Well the move is finished and I am mostly settled. I have a smaller office, but I don't mind it at all. It is cozy and me.

A smaller office, and less responsibility... Good trade I think.

Settling into the New Semester

We are in the second week of Spring 09. The beginning has actually been very hectic, but that is because we (well some of us) are shifting offices and jobs.

I have given up the Division Chair position and Duties (a semester early) because I just have my hands full with mom stuff. It has only been one week but already I feel so much better not having to worry about all the functioning of the division. Right now, I just need to concern myself with my classes and students.

Good decision.

OK that is Better....

Ask and you shall receive. Today was one of the nicest days in a while, warm and sunny. 67+ degrees, I can not complain anymore.

Thank you Lord.

It is Just Not fair...

We here in the San Joaquin Valley get use to the days and days of fog and cloud cover as we work through the winter months of the year. But I tell you it is just not fair to see the news (or check the i-phone) and see that in Fullerton (and elsewhere south of us) they are experiencing days and days of 80+ degree days... in January, yes January.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy for my children and the others that live there, but it would be nice if some of that warmth carried over the mountains to us here in the valley. Here, we are thankful for the 65 degree days, we are thankful that the sun decided to break through. It was so nice to have sunny days, so nice to see the blue sky and feel the warmth... well sort of warmth (65).

Spring is on the way.

Back to School....

Well it is that time again to get back in the swing of things and return to school for the Spring semester. I am actually feeling a little lighter this Spring because I resigned as division chair.

This would have been my last semester, but with family issues as they are (and my need to be elsewhere) I felt it best to step down now.

Even though there is still alot to do, I feel a great weigh lifted from shoulders.

Happy Spring.

Happy New Year...

It is that time again to reflect and renew hopes and dreams. But this year I am a little reserved and apprehensive, you see we got the news just this week that my mothers cancer is active again.

Her CA125 markers are higher than they have ever been; at her highest point, just before her surgery her marker was 680, well her current reading is 690 (She has gone up a hundred point since her last reading 3 weeks ago). So we now know that the cancer is winning the battle of life.

So I am not sure how this year will play out, but as always, I will do my best for as long as possible, with every ounce of strength that I can muster.

Happy New year.
