Education...

You know it is somewhat disheartening when instructors don't want to update their education. I truly believe in the saying... When you are through learning, you are through.

And as an instructor (of higher education)it is hard to get students to learn the material, but it should not be hard to get the instructor to learn something new.

Well this week I had the opportunity to teach a 1 unit class for instructors; I taught them a great program called Blackboard. This is a portal type, internet accessible web-site where instructors can post assignments, notes, Powerpoint slides, exam... A whole bunch of things that should assist the student to be more successful.

I have a varied group of male and female, young and old, from various departments and they ALL seem to be embracing the experience. I am proud of my class, they are doing a great job and try and do everything I ask of them.

YEAH BB class, they push me to learn more and more.

A Good Weekend Get Away...

Well this past weekend was a good one. I attended a conference in San Diego and it gave us the opportunity to hang out in our old stomping grounds. The weather was nice and the food was great and the fellowship was wonderful... That is always nice.

We stayed downtown and it was just wonderful near the water. The weather stayed in the 70's and 80's the whole time we were there. The conference was good and very informative. And on Saturday it was just nice driving around and seeing the sights.

I can't help but feel that a part of heart will always be in San Diego. For those of you who do not know, we lived there early in our marriage... When we were young and stupid and all those thoughts and feelings come flowing back.

I also got to spend time with my very best friend... Well she and I have been friends just forever, I mean really forever. And even though the time with her was short it was good to talk and see her again. She is the true definition of a friend.

My only regret for the weekend was that we were unable to stop and see our kids (they live in Fullerton). On the way down my daughter was sick so we didn't stop and on the way back my husband was sick so we didn't stop... And I miss them.

All in all it was a good weekend.
